I got my taxi license back in Nov 2006, I then quit my day job so I could work full time as a Cabbie. The job as a night driving Cabbie is great really, and I'm going to do this blog so I can share my experiences to a wider audience.
So, to open this blog I'll start with a brief run down of last night, which was shit by the way.
Wed, the 29th of Aug..
I thought I'd work the rush hour so I picked up the cab just after 4pm and headed to the town centre, where I picked up my first job.
On my way back to town I was flagged down by 5 young females, they wanted to go to the bowling alley at Walton-le-Dale, so off we set.
As the meter clocked over £5 one of the girls exclaimed that was all they had between them. I just said it's fine and that I'll take them all the way for the fiver, cheers they said.
As I got near to the venue and stuck at some lights, they said they'd get out here. "OK no probs", I said. One of the girls handed me a load of change, then they hopped out legged it across the road. (not in a running off manner, but in a running across the road manner) Guess how much changed there was? LOL. Just over £3, I didn't mind though, they were just kids. I didn't like the crisp, pop and bubbly wrappers they left in the cab though.
Onto the night shift, I went out at 10:45pm and finished at 3:15am. The only thing that happened of any note, was my over reaction to one of the other cabbies, when he appeared from a side road and took the place on the rank in front of me. I went to confront him about it and he explained he'd been sat down the side road for some time waiting for a space on the back of the rank. I apologised and sheepishly went back to my cab. When work is this quiet it does make one jumpy if you think you're being diddled.
